1616On August 29th 2005 a catastrophic storm, hurricane Katrina, slammed into the Southeastern coastal region of the United States with winds as high as 175 mph at land fall and a storm surge of 24-28 feet high! A family was unable to evacuate because of extending circumstances.  The family reported  their house is located at 9112 Gladiators St, Chalmette, LA.  Water levels began to reach 10-12 feet high around 12 p.m., forcing the family to the attic with no way out. In the attic they were not visible to any rescuers. In the case of hurricane Katrina, the water levels did not recede for days in the New Orleans area for days, potentially leaving the family stranded. However, Augmented reality would enable rescuers to know the exact location of the family without being able to see the family so that they could rescue them.
