Shapefile Layers
Build a .map file for MapServer using Python MapScript
Build a layer which accesses this via WMS (although it should appear to be different from user-perspective as it references local data)
Q: Can we rely on GDAL/OGR 1.6 & thus keep the Shapefiles zipped?
We can include TM_WORLD_BORDERS-0.3.zip as a useful base/sample
An option should be provided to store uploaded data in PostGIS/Spatialite, if this is available.
Q: Is it worth having an Import option for Shapefiles too?
i.e. create Internal Features from this data.
Q: SHould we use FeatureServer instead of MapServer?
