v9 v10 19 19 The project will span over 18 months and will develop capacity to implement the all-hazard all-media Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) interoperable risk communication standard along with the associated operating procedures. Instrumental to the project is the [http://eden.sahanafoundation.org/wiki/Deployments/SAMBRO Sahana Alerting and Messaging Broker] (SAMBRO) software that will be implemented at a National level for managing the sharing risk information across all relevant risk management agencies. The workshop will bring together alerting authorities, emergency first-responders, communications service providers, and other relevant organizations in the Philippines to participate in the workshop. The day long event will take place on May 11th, 2015 at the TBA, Manila. It designed to foster a discussion between the project implementers and the emergency communication system users towards determining the optimal strategies and activities for operationalizing the Sahana software-enabled multi-agency situational-awareness platform. 20 20 [[Image(http://eden.sahanafoundation.org/raw-attachment/wiki/Event/2015/CAP_PH_PAGASA/banner.png)]] 21 22 The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), will be hosting a KICKOFF WORKSHOP which is entitled “CAP on a Map – Improving Institutional Responsiveness to Coastal Hazards through Multi-agency Situational Awareness.” The workshop, which is tentatively scheduled on 19 May 2015, will be held at the Amihan Conference Room, 2/F, PAGASA Central Office Building, Science Garden, Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City.[[br]][[br]] 23 24 The said workshop is one of the activities under the UNESCAP funded project called “Cap on a Map.” It aims to augment the capacities of the national agencies for issuing early warnings using a multi-agency all-hazard/all-media approach and improve the response capacities of the Philippines as a participating country by improving the situational awareness at the time of a disaster. It is being proposed to develop and operationalize a CAP (Common Alert Protocol) enabled Sahana Multi-Agency Situational Awareness (SAMBRO) platform in order to provide location specific alerts/warnings and integrate all the stakeholders through a common information exchange hub for better coordination at the time of a disaster.[[br]][[br]] 25 26 In view of the above, we would like to invite you or your representative to participate in the workshop. Please find attached a copy of the program, for your reference. [[br]][[br]] 27 28 Thank you and we look forward to receiving your response about the matter on your convenient time but not later than 12 May 2015.[[br]][[br]] 29 30 21 31 == Facilitators == 22 32 [http://lirneasia.net/about/profiles/nuwan-waidyanatha/ Nuwan Waidyanatha] and [http://www.geoinfo.ait.ac.th/index.php/about-us-1/our-staff/81-manzul Manzul Hazarika]
