It is primarily to kickoff the CAP-on-a-Map project aiming to improve institutional responsiveness to coastal hazards through multi-agency situational-awareness. The project is made possible through funding by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP); specifically, the ESCAP Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness. The project will span over 18 months and will develop capacity to implement the all-hazard all-media Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) interoperable risk communication standard along with the associated operating procedures. Instrumental to the project is the Sahana Alerting and Messaging Broker (SAMBRO) software that will be implemented at a National level for managing the sharing risk information across all relevant risk management agencies. The workshop will bring together alerting authorities, emergency first-responders, communications service providers, and other relevant organizations in the Philippines to participate in the workshop. The day long event will take place on May 11th, 2015 at the TBA, Manila. It designed to foster a discussion between the project implementers and the emergency communication system users towards determining the optimal strategies and activities for operationalizing the Sahana software-enabled multi-agency situational-awareness platform. It is being proposed to develop and operationalize a CAP (Common Alert Protocol) enabled Sahana Multi-Agency Situational Awareness (SAMBRO) platform in order to provide location specific alerts/warnings and integrate all the stakeholders through a common information exchange hub for better coordination at the time of a disaster.brbr In view of the above, we would like to invite you or your representative to participate in the workshop. Please find attached a copy of the program, for your reference. brbr Thank you and we look forward to receiving your response about the matter on your convenient time but not later than 12 May 2015.brbr == Facilitators == Nuwan Waidyanatha and Manzul Hazarika == Schedule == ||= Time =||= Action (Resource) =|| || 08:30 - 09:00 || Registration || ||= OPENING CEREMONY =||= =|| || 09.00 – 09.05 || Opening speech on behalf of Local Organizer (TBA, PAGASA) || || 09.05 – 09.10 || Opening speech on behalf of AIT and SAHANA (Dr. Manzul Hazarika, AIT) || || 09:10 – 09:45 || Overview of project on “CAP on a MAP” (Dr. Manzul Hazarika, AIT) || || 09.45 – 10.15 || Group photo/Tea-n-Coffee Break || ||= TECHNICAL SESSION =||= =|| || 10.15 – 10.45 || Status of Disaster Management and Early Warning System in the Philippines (PAGASA) || || 10.45 – 11.15 || Multi-Agency Situational Awareness (MASA) platform with SAMBRO (Mr. Nuwan Waidyanatha) || || 11.15 – 12.10 || Assessing risks and identifying geospatial vulnerabilities for alert area templates (Dr. Manzul Hazarika, AIT) || || 12:10 – 12.30 || Common Alert Protocol (CAP) - Standards, policies and procedures.
