The project involves the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and the Sahana Software Foundation, USA. brbr 16 17 17 The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) of the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Sahana Software foundation (Sahana), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), will be hosting a KICKOFF WORKSHOP which is entitled “CAP on a Map – Improving Institutional Responsiveness to Coastal Hazards through Multi-agency Situational Awareness.” The workshop, which is tentatively scheduled on 15 July 2015, will be held at Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. 18 The main goal of the project is to augment the capacities of the national agencies for issuing early warnings, especially using the Common Alerting Protocol all-hazard all-media interoperability standard. Accordingly, the Sahana Alerting and Messaging Broker (SAMBRO) has been customized for the Philippines to augment the capabilities of the Philippine Alerting and Emergency Management Authorities for improving the coordination their response to alarming events.brbr 19 20 With the SAMBRO System successfully installed in PAGASA, we are planning to apprise the system to the relevant agencies and stakeholders in the Philippines. The workshop and training from .... to .... will train a set of warning related resource persons form selected agencies. 18 21 brbr 19 20 The said workshop is one of the activities under the UNESCAP funded project called “Cap on a Map”. Philippines now joins Myanmar and Maldives, which were from the beginning in the project. It aims to augment the capacities of the national agencies for issuing early warnings using a multi-agency all-hazard/all-media approach and improve the response capacities of Philippines as a participating country by improving the situational awareness at the time of a disaster. It is being proposed to develop and operationalize a CAP (Common Alert Protocol) enabled Sahana Alerting and Messaging Broker (SAMBRO) platform in order to provide location specific alerts/warnings and integrate all the stakeholders through a common information exchange hub for better coordination at the time of a disaster.brbr21 In view of the above, we would like to invite you or your representative to participate in the workshop. Please find attached a copy of the program, for your reference. Thank you and we look forward to receiving your response about the matter on your convenient time but not later than Wednesday 15 July 2015brbr22 22 width=600) 23 23
