Installation Guidelines: Windows - Developer (Installer)

If you are a Developer running Windows and wishing to install Python & all dependent libraries manually then this is the right page for you.

This installer allows for quick installation of Python and all required dependencies required.

It is designed for use by Developers.

Note: This Installer should be updated to include dateutil (it would also be nice to update to Python-2.7 & include matplotlib, numpy & scipy)

Includes:

  • Python-2.6.6.msi
  • lxml-2.3.win32-py2.6.exe
  • Shapely-1.2.12.win32-py2.6.exe
  • pywin32-214.win32-py2.6.exe
  • xlwt-0.7.2.win32.exe
  • PIL-1.1.7.win32-py2.6.exe
  • reportlab-2.4.win32-py2.6.exe
  • pyserial-2.5.win32.exe
  • ipython-0.10.win32-setup.exe
  • pyreadline-1.5-win32-setup.exe
  • bzr-2.3.4-1.win32-py2.6.exe (to be removed)

Doesn't yet include:

  • xlrd-0.7.1.win32.exe
  • git (should it?)

Usage Guidelines

  1. If you haven't previously installed Python-2.6 and are happy with the default installation paths, then keep hitting next until the installers complete.
  2. If you have a pre-installed Python-2.6 environment, this should be detected but otherwise can deselect it in the components page
  3. The installation of the libraries will fail if python path is not detectable via the windows registry
